The game begins with a 'Come Out' roll made by the 'Shooter' (the person rolling the dice). The shooter wins if a 7 or 11 is rolled - this is known as a 'Natural', and loses if the roll is a 2, 3 or 12 which is 'Craps', the namesake of the game. By rolling any of the remaining numbers (4,5,6,8,9, or 10) is known as the 'Point'. If the shooter establishes a point at the come out roll, they have to roll another point and then a 7 to win the game. Rolling a seven prior to rolling the point would mean the shooter loses, this is referred to as the shooter having 'sevened out'. The dice then go on to the next player. A player can opt out of a roll if he so wishes. In online Craps you can generally choose if you want to roll the dice yourself or allow the computer to roll for you.

Craps: Types of Bets

With a variety of different bets that can be placed in the game of Craps it can get confusing. Follow our guide to help you decide.

  • Pass Line Bets

The most popular bet at the Craps table, which can also be called the 'Front Line'. The player bets that the dice will 'Pass' i.e.; roll a point number before rolling a 7. It is only available for the 'Come Out' roll and the bet can't be removed or changed once the Point has been established.
    • Win: If the 'Come Out' roll is 7 or 11 OR if a 7 is rolled after the Point has been established.
    • Loses: If the Come Out roll is 2, 3 or 12 OR if a 7 is rolled before rolling a Point.
    • Payout: 1:1 and the bet removed after each win or loss.
  • Don't Pass Bets

This bet is also referred to as a 'Black Line' and is the opposite of a 'Pass line' bet. The Player is betting that a 7 is rolled before the Point. It is only available for the 'Come Out' roll.
    • Wins: If the 'Come Out' roll is 2 or 3 OR if a 7 is rolled before the point.
